Can You Hear Us Land Commissioner Goldmark?

Outside the Seattle Sheraton

Environmental activists from Seattle, Olympia, Shelton and other areas of the state gathered Tuesday morning, January 11th, to protest WA Public Lands Commissioner Peter Goldmark's support of biomass incineration. Commissioner Goldmark is the keynote speaker at the 3-day Pacific West Biomass Conference & Trade Show, hosted at the downtown Seattle Sheraton.
Port of Shelton Commissioner Jack Miles, who does not support the proposed ADAGE incinerator in Mason County, participated in the demonstration. KOMO radio recorded, and King-5 TV filmed and recorded the protest.

No Biomass Incineration Demonstration Statement:
We are here today to oppose the biomass industry's plans to clear-cut much of what's left of the Pacific Northwest's temperate rainforest for a form of energy that's dirtier than coal. Instead of increasing our dependency on the corporations that have caused climate change, let's reduce our energy usage, increase efficiency, and seek truly sustainable alternatives.

The Pacific West Biomass Conference's Keynote speaker is Peter Goldmark, the Commissioner of Public Lands for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. This is a man that is supposed to be conserving our public lands for future generations. Instead, he wants to give away our forests for biomass, and lie about the consequences for our health and our environment.

Tell Peter Goldmark to come clean about his industry ties,
and stop spreading biomass lies!

  1. Thank you for going to Seattle and for reporting on this event.

I think we ought to invite our illustrious elected official to a meeting of people opposed to biomass and respectfully let him make his case.

While it might be challenging for him to refute the medical and scientific evidence, we should give him the chance.

    Whose game?
