GRANDMOTHERS ALIGNED AGAINST POLLUTION
MAY DAY CELEBRATION 2011 AT THE CAPITOL

Submitted to Shelton Blog by Connie Simpson
We Grandmothers come together today to celebrate our Mother Earth and her return with gifts of new life.

We come in gratitude and in humility knowing we must live in relationship with the elements: air, earth, water and fire.
We are thankful for the many gifts and blessings we receive beginning with our life and ending with the lives of all creatures
We bow to the four directions: North, South, East, and West, and thank all the beings and creatures that inhabit there.
We bless the birds of the air, fishes of the sea, and all creatures on and in the earth. We wish for peace and plenty for all, and know that we must live in harmony with the elements and the creatures.
We know that we do not have ultimate dominion over the elements or the earth or the oceans or the creatures, for that way leads to our destruction.
Women live in harmony and knowledge of the forces of life and death, gravity and tides, seasons of planting, harvest, preparation, and rest.
Our stitches and prayers for the next Seven Generations are a sign of our gratitude and devotion to living in harmony and living well in the delicate embrace of our Mother from whom all blessings flow.
Thank you mother, thank you mother earth, thank you father, thank you sister, thank you brother, thank you daughter, thank you son, thank you granddaughter, thank you grandson~ for we are all connected and together we give, and preserve, life and our Mother Earth.

  2. Women of all ages, from 7 to a good deal more than 7, came together this May Day to seeking blessings for each other, our planet and the next seven generations.

It was a perfect day, perfect company and the perfect location. Mother Nature clearly loves Grandmother events; it certainly felt like the nicest weather we have had here in a very long while!

Thank you Connie dreaming this event, and for working hard to make it happen.
