CHRIS HEDGES: ON USA EDUCATION

Excerpt from:
Why the United States Is Destroying Its Education System
By Chris Hedges

A nation that destroys its systems of education, degrades its public information, guts its public libraries and turns its airwaves into vehicles for cheap, mindless amusement becomes deaf, dumb and blind. It prizes test scores above critical thinking and literacy. It celebrates rote vocational training and the singular, amoral skill of making money. It churns out stunted human products, lacking the capacity and vocabulary to challenge the assumptions and structures of the corporate state. It funnels them into a caste system of drones and systems managers. It transforms a democratic state into a feudal system of corporate masters and serfs.

  1. A citizen must be truly ignorant or unobservant to not notice how teachers have come under scrutiny while those who outright pilfer and steal the fruits of society's labors escape such examination Scot free.
Starting teachers with Bachelors degrees make $36,000 a year while those with Masters degrees make $42,000. $42,000 for a MASTERS DEGREE!!!!
In the meantime those with MBA's on Wall Street, and some with far less education who are CEO's are making thousands of percent more than their average employee, some healthcare executives making upwards of $14 MILLION while those they are supposed to insure and protect are denied care and DIE.
Yet the media, owned and controlled by the wealthy elite would have society focus on teachers? (and police and firefighters). They know NO SHAME.
