Citizens that feel a change is needed in the structure of the Port of Shelton Commission to prevent abuse of the will of the people should vote YES to all three Port of Shelton ballot issues.
I've been attending the Port meetings for several months now. I would characterize the situation in the Port as “whatever Commissioner Jay Hupp wants, Jay Hupp gets”.
Over 3000 citizens of Mason County declared that they did not want what Jay Hupp wants, and have been ignored. Two of the ballot issues offer a way for the citizens of this county to reassert their legitimate right to decide what they want for Mason County.
Increasing the number of commissioners from 3 to 5 makes it much more difficult for a single individual to control the commission.
Decreasing the term of office to 4 years gives citizens the opportunity to “toss the bums out“ more frequently, if needed, to prevent commissioner complacency about the voting public's opinions.
In short, do we want a system that supports democracy in Shelton, or the continuation of feudalism at the Port? Personally, I prefer being a citizen to being a serf.
Being a serf sucks! I vote for citizen...
ReplyDeleteThe state of "Tyranny" comes to mind, too. Sometimes we get the feeling -- here in Shelton and Mason County, Wa -- like we are back in the old days, following the examples of our forefathers and standing-up against those who would have us live under Tyranny or Dictatorial Leadership.
ReplyDeleteIt was NOT easy but they worked together and prevailed against Huge Odds. Down with those who would be Dictators, especially in Shelton and Mason County, Washington, USA!
Get rid of Hupp, vote Yupp on all port initiative and propositions..
