ADAGE SEEKS TO SELL ITS STAKE

RETURN OF THE DRAGON?

A Phone Conversation With ORCAA

Submitted to Shelton Blog by Katherine Price Mason County Progressive

Today I spoke with Gordon Lance at ORCAA.

I asked him if he would still be answering, in writing, the questions that were posed to ORCAA by and on January 31st, and how far along they were in the answering process.

Guess what?

They have not even begun to answer those questions, and the reason for that is that ORCAA had a "heads up" that ADAGE was probably pulling out.

"Way back in January?", I said. It's been a month and a half, and I ask how the written answers to our inquiries are coming along, and Lance says they have not started because they did not want to waste a lot of time answering those questions if they did not have to do it.

The next question asked was, "Mr. Lance, if someone else came in and wanted to 'slide' into the ADAGE position, would that be possible? We heard this was done in one community where the citizens ran one company out of town, and another company came in, took it's position, and did what the community had not wanted in the first place."

OMG! The answer was not only "YES", but Lance said ADAGE is shopping around for someone to sell its position and the work they have done to date...and this would be okay with ORCAA! So someone could buy ADAGE's position and not have to start at square one!

Lastly, I asked him what he thought about ADAGE after the public hearing and 8 hours of testimony, all things being equal, and if they were to proceed, was ORCAA ready to permit or deny?

He said, "Permit."

We need to be vigilant, air-breathers...very vigilant.

  1. Of course Adage is looking for a buyer; they want to recoup some of their losses. Did you expect this company to go quietly into the still night? And, no, I don't believe ORCAA knew Adage was going to pull out; they were waiting to see what SEPA would do. What you may not have known is that the Adage crew was strapped for cash; several of the principals had taken out loans on their homes to finance the proposal; that is why they did not mount a multi-million dollar PR campaign. The first thing you want to do when someone presents ANY proposal is to find out who you're talking to. NO ONE DID THAT! Now will you please let me get back to my celebratory Martini?

We have tonight submitted in writing to the Executive Director of the Port of Shelton, John Dobson, several questions regarding the Port's Press Release and the infamous "Option to Lease." A written response from the Port has been requested.

Let's see where all of our suspicions and inquiries lead!!
