Who is Steve Bloomfield anyway?

Submitted to Shelton Blog by John Cox

Steve Bloomfield, for those of you who don't know, is the guy who has spoken a couple of times at the County Commissioners' meetings and at the Port meetings in support of the Adage incinerator. He has mentioned his low opinion of narcissistic megalomaniac kooks that aren't from Mason County and who come here to falsely accuse Adage and mislead the people. He claims to represent the majority of citizens in Mason County that really want the incinerator but have felt too intimidated to say anything. I guess kooks are pretty scary.

Steve Bloomfield may be a lot of things, but speaking as the self-appointed representative of the silent majority is not quite, how can I say it?...not quite correct.

  1. Ad Hominid attacks are the province of those short on the merits/facts. Tim Sheldon engaged in these tactics as well, publicly labeling Duff as a 'certified kook' and citizens petitioning against bio-incineration as a 'vocal minority'. Yet when both county and port district commissioners were asked for an advisory ballot measure on the issue, they were denied...this despite a local real estate broker's public offering to bear any/all of the cost of such a measure being placed on the ballot.

It's an old lawyer's gambit: When you don't have the facts on your side, attack their character. In this instance, the residents of a poor rural county have exercised extensive critical reasoning doing their research/homework and easily out-pacing their elected officials whose mandate is to protect the public weal/interest. They have failed miserably to discharge their oath of office in this regard. Citizens need a change ASAP. Anytime a politician displays resentment toward their constituents, labeling, insulting, and marginalizing them...then that official needs to be removed from the public sector.
