THE OLYMPIAN REPORTS ADAGE EXIT

Biomass plant dropped

A controversial woodwaste-to-energy project proposed in Mason County has been terminated, according to Port of Shelton officials.

Project officials for the the Adage biomass plant near Shelton informed the port late last week of their plans to abandon the project, Port executive director John Dobson said.

Representatives for Adage, a joint venture between ARVEA and Duke Energy, confirmed the report Monday morning.

The $250 million project had run into stiff opposition from citizen groups who contended that the air pollution associated with burning more than 600,000 tons of wood debris per year outweighed the jobs and energy the plant would generate.

  1. Great and good blessings on all of those "citizen groups" who opposed this bioma$$acre.

This will give hope to other groups in our state facing similar proposed biomassacres.
