Demonstrate Against Ironic Ignorance!

Submitted to Shelton Blog by John Cox

We should really worry about the Chamber of Commerce members that work in the downtown Shelton area. Do you think the C of C members that support the decision to embrace the Adage and Simpson incinerators, and also work in downtown Shelton, are aware of the irony?

Due to the proximity of the proposed Simpson incinerator, they (along with the many innocents), will be particularly exposed to dioxin, particulate matter 2.5, and other very nasty toxic emissions they will be breathing or absorbing these toxins for many hours a day. The exposure will be particularly enhanced during inversions and burn bans. It will be like being locked in a closet with a chain smoker.

It is astonishing to think about this. These Chamber members are committing slow motion suicide while dreaming about their bank accounts!

But, there is still time for our friends in the C of C to save themselves...

On Wednesday, September 23rd at 6pm, the City of Shelton, Simpson, and ORCAA will be meeting with the public to discuss their pending corporate coup d'etat. We citizens will be staging a demonstration before the meeting. I am sure the crowd standing there waving their signs will welcome any Chamber members who, having recognized the irony of their situation, are having second thoughts about their support for biomass incineration.

All Chamber of Commerce members are cordially invited to join the demonstration before the meeting (we have extra signs).

  1. What an excellent opportunity for our candidates to step forward and demonstrate to the residents of Mason County how they intend to represent the will of the people.
