EIS Scoping Meeting for Shelton Hills 
600 Acre Mixed Use Development

Good Afternoon!

The City of Shelton is holding a Public Meeting/Open House to commence the environmental review of this proposed master-planned mixed use development. A public EIS scoping meeting will be held on
Wednesday, September 26th, at 5:30 p.m. in the City of Shelton Civic Center, located at 525 W. Cota St. in Shelton. This meeting will provide an opportunity to learn more about the project and proposed actions, and to provide input on the environmental review process. A brief proposal description and directions to find more on-line information is provided in the attached (.pdf) document.

  1. This is an important meeting to attend, and I’ll tell you why: There is little hope of ever changing the repressive, backward thinking that permeates local government until such time as more people with a broader life experience relocate to Mason County.

    Despite decades of poverty, many long time residents remain loyal to an industry that exploits local resources, yet provides few jobs, fewer opportunities and no future.

    If we ever hope to build a community for the 21st Century, Shelton Hills must be developed in a manner that attracts people of means and imagination, not just those looking for cheap housing.

    We need to make sure the developer gets that message.
