STOP GOLDMARK’S WAR!!
SAVE: OUR FORESTS, OUR CLIMATE, OUR LIVES!!
By relentlessly promoting biomass incineration, Public Lands Commissioner Peter Goldmark wages war on our forests, our climate and our lives. Support our lawsuits against biomass incinerators across the state. Join top environmental attorneys, environmental groups, and thousands of citizen activists. Help us stop Goldmark’s War now!
- Biomass incineration burns millions of tons of forest wood essential to forests’ renewal.
- Biomass incineration—also burning so-called “urban wood” from construction debris emits toxic pollutants so lethal a single exposure can kill.
- Biomass incineration—also burning so-called “urban wood” from construction debris stokes climate change. It emits more CO2 than burning fossil fuel.
- Biomass incineration—also burning so-called “urban wood” from construction debris emits more lethal Particulate Matter than coal (per studies accepted by EPA).
We are fighting five highly-polluting biomass incinerators on the Olympic Peninsula. We are organizing now to force Seattle Steam to stop burning wood construction debris at its incinerator near Pike Place Market.
- Nippon in Port Angeles. Goldmark selected Nippon as one of four biomass ‘pilot projects’ for WA. A coalition of 7 environmental groups has sued to stop Nippon.
- Evergreen State College near Olympia. Goldmark’s top staff is pushing hard to build this incinerator—that would double CO2 emissions compared to the current campus boiler. But Thurston County has just imposed a 12-month biomass incinerator moratorium!!
- ADAGE in Mason County. A citizens’ group has sued to stop this 65MW incinerator that would burn more than one ton of wood per minute and emit 600,000 tons of CO2/yr.
- Simpson in Shelton, Mason County. Shelton air quality already fails WA Ecology health standards. This incinerator would emit 300,000 tons of CO2 per year.
- Port Townsend Paper near Port Townsend in Jefferson County. Five environmental groups have sued to stop this incinerator that would burn 200,000 tons of forest wood/yr.

ReplyDeleteAnd thank you also for finding that really great picture of Mr. Goldmark; it captures his essence perfectly!
