LOCAL ISSUES, LOCAL CONTROL!

Over 20 protesters gathered at the State Capitol Campus
to express opposition to House Bill 1081 & Senate Bill 5228.

Area activists against bioma$$ incineration stood together
in support of the Thurston County Moratorium
threatened by HB 1081 & SB 5228.

Many people passed by the demonstrators on their way into
the Cherberg
Building for the various scheduled Senate Hearings.

Some people read the signs & accepted the info handouts.

Some people didn't...

Inside the Cherberg Building, the hallway outside of Room 152
was crowded with people waiting to sign in for the SB 5228 hearing.

Inside Room 152, approximately 100 people packed the room
to hear & present testimony to the Senate Committee.
Thurston County Commissioners, Cathy Wolfe, Sandra Romero
& Karen Valenzuela were in attendance.

Concerns were expressed by Duff Badgley, No Biomass Burn;
Michelle Morris, Concerned Citizens of Thurston County;
& Pat Rasmussen, World Temperate Rainforest Network.

Tom Davis, Shelton resident (blue shirt):
"We may not always agree with
our local commissioners,
but we certainly don't want their authority usurped."

Dick Curtis, Shelton resident (plaid shirt):
"I am against authority being given
to an appointed
council to take away local ability to make a decision."

Concerned citizens will await the Senate Committee's decision re: SB 5228.

STOP HB 1081 & SB 5228!
