GAAP Caring Hearts & Hands Meet 2/12/11

Submitted to Shelton Blog by Christine Armond

2nd Gathering of Grandmothers Aligned Against Pollution

The elegant Enchanted Garden & Dee's Teas
(422 N. 3rd St., Shelton)
once again hosted the GAAP event

(with crumpets supplied by 8 Arms Community Bakery)

8 Grandmothers gathered together to make valentines for
Alpine Way senior citizens, & to fill tote bags with goods
to be donated to Turning Pointe Domestic Violence Shelter

Actually, it was 8 Grandmothers plus 1 Grandfather!
(Grandmother Connie's spouse, Greg, sat in her stead as
she was unable to attend the event she so lovingly organized)

The 8 Grandmothers & 1 Grandfather made 110 valentines
to be brought to Alpine Way seniors

Valentines made with lots of love, laughs, & good cheer!

The donation table overflowed with an abundance
of shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, etc.. etc. ETC.
to be donated to the Turning Pointe shelter
(The doll was sweetly donated by a grandchild, & delivered by his grandmother)

Caring hands...

Skillful hands...

Loving hands...reaching out to our community!

Happy Valentines Day from Grandmothers Aligned Against Pollution!

MAY ALL HEARTS BE HAPPY & PEACEFUL!

Message from Grandmother Connie Simpson:

What a joy it is to find the heart and soul of our community in the amazing women who have gotten together twice recently to support one another in efforts to guide our community in safe and peaceful ways!

Women's wisdom, generosity, and attention focused on issues facing our community can be, and are, a potent force. And, you don't have to be a grandmother to be involved... or even female!

Our next meeting (Saturday, March 12, 1 pm at The Enchanted Garden), will focus on connections. We will each crochet a part of a many-colored chain to represent our various walks in life. We will then tie these together with symbols of our positive wishes for Mother Earth in the manner of a prayer flag.

No experience is needed, yarn will be provided, and please bring a crochet hook if you have one! Join in, or just come to enjoy the tea and company! This time we will be donating cans and boxes of food to St. David's Kitchen.

ALL ARE WELCOME!

  2. And don't forget that PAAP will be meeting down at Murphy's bar, where the throwing of the bull begins at 8:00PM, followd by the begging for forgiveness event at 11:00, and winding up the whole evening with the greatly anticipated sleeping on the couch extravaganza.
