Censured or Censored?

Submitted to Shelton Blog by Katherine Price

Jack Miles Needs Our Help!

I am sure there is no one in our group (opposing biomass incineration) who does not recognize that only one elected official has come out publicly, day in and day out against Adage.

There are elected officials who are on our side, Fred Finn and Kathy Haigh
come to mind, but no one is out there like Jack in saying what we have been starving to hear from an elected official: You are right; you are the citizen; I work for you.

Such simple phrases, but Jack says them often: I work for you.

Now Jack is in trouble. In his desire to represent his constituents he
has, not surprisingly, annoyed his fellow commissioners. Those other "elected" officials who do not work for the citizens but who work for those people many elected officials work for: corporate interests, money, EDIC members, Chamber of Commerce members, people who already have jobs, and most of them already have enough of everything, the people who got them elected. The people who are comfortable selling Mason County to the highest bidder(s). Still wondering what they breathe?

Jack is going to be censured at the commission meeting on Tuesday, next,
at 2:00 p.m., for his blog posting (see www.masoncountyprogressive.net) supporting Rahn Redman's ballot measures, and calling Brad Owen stupid (I called him an IDIOT!).

Actually, Jack was using an expression I believe may have been coined by
President Clinton: "It's the economy stupid." but you know that Jay Hupp will take that the way he wants.

So, what we need to do, and what I propose we do, is let everyone who
cares about Mason County, about public servants who want to speak out for the public, about clean air, about clean water, about not letting Tim ShelTon and his friends sell us to Adage, if you are an air breather, and you can be there, we need to be at this Port meeting on Tuesday.

This is the most important Port meeting we will attend to date, and they
have all been really important.

Jack Miles is in trouble for caring. Jack Miles is in trouble for backing
the citizens. Jack Miles is in trouble for taking our side against the other Commissioners and their corporate masters. I propose that we show the Port of Shelton who the citizens of Shelton support.

Please join me in attending this most important Port of Shelton meeting ever.

When Jay Hupp tells Jack Miles to grab his ankles, let's let Jay Hupp know
what we think about him censoring Jack Miles.

Please meet me at the Port of Shelton meeting on Tuesday, at 2:00, and let
Jack Miles see the smiling faces of the people he represents while Jay Hupp administers his thirty whacks, or whatever other punishment he has in mind for our friend.

Keep it light, but pretty fierce I think,

  2. If I were Jack Miles I'd hire an attorney and sue the port commissioners for infringing on my first amendment right to free speech. His title is Port Commissioner, that doesn't mean he speaks for the port, but he is elected and entitled to use his title in voicing his opinions on election and port matters.

Since his primary comment is on an election issue he has every right to speak about it. He also has the right to voice his 'opinion' about Brad Owen's intelligence or lack thereof.

But judging by their selective use of free speech for THEIR purposes only and infringing on the rights of others, they not only have no clue about free speech, but haven't read the RCW's or the Washington State Constitution, which is even more permissive and liberal in it's free speech rights.

Jack might not have to work much if he get's the right lawyer. If I were him (Jack) I'd HOPE the port hires Skip Hauser, who "IN MY OPINION" is an incompetent, ambulance chasing hack.
NOTICE TO THOSE WHO MIGHT SELF-IDENTIFY AS INCOMPETENT AMBULANCE CHASING HACKS: Opinions are not considered factual, they are opinion, like your view or interpretation of law or like editorials, therefore they are not libelous or slanderous. They are however, constitutionally guaranteed free speech. Just like the misguided opinions of Jay Hupp and Tom Wallitner on free speech. Not to mention this is about public business that the public is free to fully comment on. Afterall, the port lawyer is actually indirectly OUR lawyer and is paid by the public. Do I hear a siren? Go get em' boy!

  3. We will definitely be at the meeting tomorrow to support Jay. It is absolutely laughable, laughable, that Tom or Jay presume to "apologize" for Jay's integrity.

  4. I am sure you meant "Jack's" integrity, and it is laughable that Tom and/or Jay would presume to apologize for Jack. And to apologize for Jack exercising his right to free speech in a blog posting the Lt. Gov. ("BO") would probably never have seen, had it not been sent to him by the Jayster. Mad, I tell you, completely mad -- and suicidal as well. Adult Protective Services should investigate Jay's situation: His desire to suck 2.5 particulate matter suggests he is no longer capable of making decisions regarding his own well-being. Or has he already sold HIS house, and is he just waiting for Adage to go into operation to move to sunnier (less smoggy) climates with his 30 pieces of silver? What does it cost Adage to get local officials to sell out their community? Inquiring minds want to know!

  5. Sarah DID mean Jack's integrity and supporting Jack. Yes, please forgive, truly. I meant supporting Jack. Thank you Katherine.
