11 INCINERATORS = 275MW = 2,750,000 TONS OF CO2/YR. = 2,750,000 TONS OF FOREST WOOD/YR.
Red circles represent approximately 50 miles around each biomass incineration/burning facility if all currently proposed (as of Sept 2010) around the Olympic Peninsula, in WA , USA are built.
50 miles is the “cost effective” distance within which these facilities quickly use up “waste” wood, then begin foraging for other sources -- outside, standing wood, other materials including construction debris (“urban wood”) or sludge.
Facilities indicated include: PT Holdings (Port Townsend), Nippon (Port Angeles), Quilayeute School (Forks), Sierra Pacific (Aberdeen), Gores Group (Cosmopolis), Grays Harbor (Hoquiam), Evergreen College (Olympia), Simpson (Shelton), Adage (Shelton), City of Tacoma (Tacoma), Simpson (Tacoma) Port Townsend Paper (dark red, upper right) already forages outside of the circle shown to feed its Kraft pulp mill. At least 26 biomass burners are existing or proposed for WA State.
